Yeah, I really need to pop the hood more often, just to take a look around and make sure nothing has gone missing or started growing.

What car is that?

That might be a good idea. I check the Gran Torino every time I drive it any where.

Did you get the secondary nut taken loose and reworked as well? It's also a suspect.

I did not, but I certainly can. Which is the secondary nut?

Especially on an older car. I know shit is gonna start falling off of me soon at my age.

The big lead mostly just goes to your starter. The smaller lead attached to the large copper lug with its own bolt actually runs most of your chassis electrics, usually. That bolt and its washers typically need some attention too, though iron doesn't get nailed as thoroughly by acid offgassing as the copper and lead do.

Thanks. I'll check it out. After I finish my cigar.

woof.

How do you like it?

Very much. We've made a few 3000 mile drives in it with no significant problems. Had to replace the main seal after 130k miles, but (it's a long story) got that fixed for under $500. Comfortable, roomy, feels good on the road. 6 cyl is peppy. Very reliable.

This seems to be a Honda thing. Our MDX battery constantly has the same collored corrosion, and needs to be cleaned every 6 months.

I read somewhere that leaving lights or other electrics on in the car can cause this. My boys constantly leave their cabin light on. So that may have contributed to it. We'll see.

I don't ever leave anything on. Well except for the headlights remaining on for 30 seconds after you exit the vehicle. I might try cleaning it again and spraying them with that terminal paint that's supposed to help.

Those felt rings that I added are supposed to help too, somehow. But would this be an issue with the vehicle or with the battery? I don't know. I thought I was buying spray to protect the posts after cleaning, but I got cleaner by accident. That said, the cleaner made the job super easy.

Mine is a different brand battery so I assume it's probably something with the copper alloy terminals they use reacting with the battery posts.
